Thursday, December 4th, 2008

CRAZY COW has inked a distribution agreement with the Canadian private channel Séries+ (Part of Astral Media-Canwest), which has acquired the rights to “MPU-Missing Persons Unit’ (original Belgian title = “Vermist”) , the EYEWORKS police series about five members of the Missings Persons Task Force investigating mysterious disappearances.

“MPU” is the first Belgian police series EVER sold to Canada !

Elaine Mourez – Séries+’s Head of Acquisitions, commented : “The well crafted plotline and the fast pace of these investigation stories will make of this series a crowd pleaser that will blend beautifully in our schedule. “MPU” is the kind of series our viewers love to watch!”

Séries+ will launch “MPU” in the fall 2009 in prime-time. The Canadian channel bought directly the movie (1 x 90′) , SEASON 1 (9 x 50′) and also SEASON 2 (10 X 50′).

Michel Daemen – CRAZY COW, added : “. “This sale to Canada follows previous deals with Czech Republic (TV Barrandov) and with France (M6).  We see that all these channels believe for 100% in the high potential of “MPU” because they all decided to buy directly SEASON 1 as well as SEASON 2 and moreover they will broadcast it in a strategic evening slot and not in daytime like many other European series”.

“MPU” was already the first Belgian police series EVER sold to France ! Italy, Spain, Slovakia, Russia… are also interested in the police series.

“MPU-Missing Persons Unit’ is broadcast in prime-time on the Belgian FREE tv channel VT4 (http://www.vt4.be/vermist/ / Part of SBS ProsiebenSat1).

Superb cast, well written scripts as well as well written characters, and a great direction : “MPU-Missing Persons Unit’ is as good as an American movie/series, but with an European touch !
